Careers in Linguistics: Translators and Interpreters
Some people are born with a gift. For instance, there are those who are capable of learning and speaking various languages. People who are passionate about languages can pursue a career in linguistics such as interpreter and translator jobs.
A translator usually focuses in the written word while an interpreter works more on oral communication. Translators and interpreters are usually hired both by the public and private sectors. The United Nations is an example of the government institutions that has a pool of interpreters which is a requisite in the nature of its work.
Career experts say that languages that are highly in demand for translator and interpreter jobs include Spanish, French, German, Japanese and English.
